When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a scientist.

Where did you go to school?

I went to Lincoln High School in Lincolnton, NC and Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. Go Eagles!

What led you to your current role at Kelley Orthodontics?

After six years in the container shipping industry, I decided to change careers and go to dental hygiene school. After a semester and a half, I decided it wasn’t for me, but I soon found an administrative position with Dr. Kelley.

Where are you from? If not Charleston, what brought you here?

After college in Rock Hill, SC, I didn’t have immediate plans. A friend told me he wanted to move to Charleston, and I replied, “Sounds like an awesome idea. When can we leave?”

Did you have braces, and if so, for how long?

Yes, for about a year and a half.

Did you have clear or colored rubber bands?

Clear. My braces were straight-up old school with the metal braces, metal bands (on most teeth), and metal ties (so no colored O ties).

Head gear?  Luckily, no.

Did you really use the floss threaders like you’re supposed to?  Ummm, do I have to answer that?!

What job could you never do?

Apparently dental hygiene.

If Kelley Orthodontics didn’t exist and you needed a totally different career, what would be another dream job?

My dream would be to NOT have a job! But any career that involves traveling to the far corners of the earth would be pretty nice.

What’s the last book you read?

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. Also, a friend gave me The Host by Stephanie Meyer and I couldn’t get past the fourth chapter.

What’s the last movie you watched? Silver Linings Playbook.

What was your first concert? Neil Diamond, circa 1981.

What was your favorite concert?

U2 Vertigo Tour, Las Vegas, NV, November 5, 2005. I was within an arms length of Bono. I am very passionate about my U2 concert experiences.

What is the best part about working with Dr. Kelley?

Meeting our great patients and their families. Picking on Dr. Kelley is pretty fun too.

What celebrity has the best teeth?

I am currently obsessed with Bradley Cooper’s teeth.

What celebrity would you most like to have as a patient at Kelley Orthodontics?

I wouldn’t mind having him as a patient either.

What’s your favorite date night restaurant?

McCrady’s. I took my husband there for his birthday right after we started dating and it has been a favorite of ours ever since.

About what are you most proud of Kelley Orthodontics?

Smile for a Lifetime, I think it is a great foundation. I am very happy that we can help out some great kids in our community by giving them the gift of a great, confident smile!

If you were invited to be on the show Shark Tank, what is the invention you would present? (Doesn’t everyone have a “million dollar idea” every now and then?)

A teleportation device.

Do you have any pets? If so, what are their names?

No pets. But if we ever get a pet, my husband wants to name it Swash-buckler. Don’t ask why.

If you want to surprise someone, what do you tell them about yourself (that’s true)?

That I am really shy. For some reason, no one believes it.

What do you think the best advance has been in recent years for orthodontics?

Damon Clear Braces!

Do you watch Downton Abbey? If so, who is your favorite character?

I don’t watch it.

Best excuse from a patient.

Mom dropped the retainer in the toilet while cleaning and then tried to boil it to sterilize. Moral of the story: don’t boil your retainers.
