So you’ve reached the retention period of your orthodontic treatment. Does the thought of wearing retainers make you cringe?

We know what you’re thinking. You just got out of braces. Why do you have to wear something else?

The Retention Period

While braces move your teeth into their correct positions, retainers help your teeth stay there—for life! This is called the retention period of treatment.

If you’re concerned about wearing retainers, just think back to your orthodontic treatment. You likely spent months, maybe even years, wearing an appliance. You wouldn’t want to go through it all again, right?

Retainers help to keep your teeth from moving back to their original positions. When you finish treatment, we’ll provide a set made just for you as part of your overall treatment cost. Depending on your unique needs, we will prescribe an estimated retention period length as well.

Use Your Case!

We like to remind our patients to keep a close eye on their retainers. After receiving yours, be sure to keep it in its original case when you’re not wearing it. It’s very easy to misplace it or throw it away.
